Check out the new single from award-winning great pal and all-round musical polymath @oxmusicuk - a haunting banger!
As much of a pain in the arse as Spotify can be for independent musicians, it never ceases to amaze and inspire me to see folks across the world continuing to engage with the songs.
As someone who does this in the (pretty sparse) spare minutes from a busy job, a busy life and two very demanding rescue dogs, it’s a joy to see the tunes out doing their thing in the wild.
THANK YOU for continuing to listen to them - and stay tuned, there are more coming in a few months π€π»
Absolutely stoked at all the streams from this year - THANK YOU to everyone who listened, commented, played us on the radio and enjoyed the music - and HUGE thanks to @kxtradio who are still bangin’ BOUGHT AND SOLD live on the airwaves over a year after it was released π€π»
More deets to follow, but have some BIG Chinaskis plans for 2025 - new tunes, new players, new swearwords - and I’m so grateful to have everyone on here along for the ride.
Hope you and those you love have an amazing 2025!

Got to meet one of my favorite musicians in the world yesterday (and a big influence on the band). @st_vincent was back in the ‘hood for the holidays and did a charity DJ set from the back of a pickup truck while about 60 people danced in an insurance company parking lot.
Can’t believe I just typed that - surreal AF. And she’s so cool in the flesh - total legend!
Utterly blown away by the #spotifywrapped stats this year.
As a songwriter, it’s pretty incomprehensible that over 14,000 folks in 63 countries have listened to the songs in 2024, or that nine of you have the band in your top 5 Spotify artists. π€―
You write the songs for yourself, record and produce them with other talented folks, put them out there…and then whatever happens is in the hands of the gods.
For me, my only goal is that they resonate with folks, that the melodies, chords and lyrics make people feel something, whether that’s laughter, sadness, anger, happiness - or just that they aren’t alone in feeling a particular way. That’s why I listened to 75,000 hours of music myself this year, and why I’m *completely* fucking stoked, humbled, awed and <insert another sweary superlative here> that folks are doing the same with my tunes.
THANK YOU to everyone who listened - and if any of the top 9 fans are on here, hit me up and I’ll send you some cool shit for making me feel so happy this week π
Very proud of this year’s #spotifywrapped π€π»
Great times at the @deepellumblockparty yesterday - for only a “deep sea diver” managed to see some great sets from @raekwon , @polyspree , @curltheband and the inimitable @daryl_band_official - plus I was home in my jim-jams by 10pm #winning
It’s a monumental day here at Chinaskis HQ π¨
Today we are proud to confirm that, after nearly ten years, thousands of dollars in time and studio fees, one transatlantic relocation and over 80,000 digital streams later, we finally saw the first royalty check for “Songs for the Scunnered” - and it’s a WHOPPER πͺπ»
Please share suggestions for what to do with this EPIC WAR CHEST below.
Record the new double album at Abbey Road with Taylor Swift producing?
Blow it on a mountain of the finest organic craft gear from Peru π΅πͺ?
Pay off my credit card bills?
I’ll be sure to consider all options from the comfort of my 500ft superyacht in Cannes π₯οΈπ΅πΆπ·π΄
(Seriously tho, thanks for listening β€οΈ)
“We try to combine big harmony-laden pop arrangements with the sound of a bitter-sounding Scotsman singing over them.”
HUGE thanks to Pete’s Rock News & Views for their Chinaskis feature and interview with Robbie, which went live today… check it oot, link in bio πͺπ»
One thing my late father taught me is that you can tell everything you need to know about a man from his handshake.
Never used a poll before, but let’s try one for shits n’ giggles. What’s the worst handshake for you?
“Backslapper” is about the kind of arsehole we’ve all met in the workplace - disingenuous, duplicitous and possessive of the worst kind of grip.
In a tribute to the song, here are four of our favorite handshakes from history π€

Happy #newmusicfriday - and we couldn’t be more excited to share the final single from our debut album with y’all today!
BACKSLAPPER is the poppiest song about abject hatred you’ll hear all week - and you’ll love the suitably sinister video that launched on our YouTube today (link in bio).
Thanks to everyone who’s played the song, playlisted it and bought the album in the last month, you’re too kind!
Enjoy π€π»

Two days until we launch BACKSLAPPER, the final single from our album. Want to say a HUGE “Cheers!” to everyone who’s helped promote and playlist the song so far, it’s great to see it pick up a bit of momentum!
Happy hump day - and may your work colleagues be a great deal less loathesome than the wanker who inspired this tune ten years ago π

Things get a little more sinister in this second clip from our next single “BACKSLAPPER” - out next Friday, September 13!
The first in line to be the company man /
Laughing hardest at the boss’ racist joke /
You’ll trample anybody here you can /
To get your snout into the trough and move on further up the rope
We’ve all worked with someone like this, right? π

Just over a week til we release “BACKSLAPPER”, the final single from our debut album!
The single and video drop on YouTube, Spotify and wherever else y’all listen to music on #newmusicfriday 13th - we look forward to sharing it with you π€π»
One of the highlights of being a songwriter is getting photos and texts like this every so often, when friends and fans of the band are out driving and our song comes on the radio.
When I first knocked out “Bought and Sold” on an acoustic guitar over ten years ago, I never dreamed we’d end up turning it into a single, or using it to launch a new version of the band in Dallas - and to hear it on FM radio remains one of life’s most sublime pleasures.
It doesn’t get much better than this - and huge props to @kxtradio for playlisting the song and keeping it spinning for months π€π»
Huzzah! Pleased to announce that “BACKSLAPPER”, the final single from our acclaimed debut album “SONGS FOR THE SCUNNERED”, launches on #newmusicfriday September 13th on all of the music platforms - and over the next week we’ll be sharing teasers from the brand-spanking-new music video that just dropped on our YouTube!π€π»
Back in the motherland for a flying visit, and reunited with two of the original ‘naskis - in a bar, of course π Thanks to Chris and @thestuartpwilson for coming out and raising a glass or ten π₯
@britstoptx absolutely destroying it as usual at @sundownatgranada last night, with @billyspelly looking very much more…. umm, BINARY than he does at our gigs.
Special shoutout to @thepartycrowdband who were fucking awesome - had to leave early during their set (because I’m fucking old and tired) but their guitarist’s tone and licks were straight outta Nashville π₯π₯π₯
Well, hello there π
We’re VERY EXCITED to announce the release of “Backslapper”, the sixth and final single from our debut album “Songs for the Scunnered”, on Friday July 19.
It’s one of the punchiest and shamelessly catchy songs on the album - and a fitting coda to an incredible period spent releasing singles, promoting and playing gigs to support the first album.
Music video to follow soon π€π»
Seven years this morning since one of popular music’s greatest singers and performers left us.
The music he made with @soundgarden has been with me since my teens - an unreal and never-to-be-repeated gumbo of timeless, sludgy detuned riffs, ethereal tunings and see-saw drum rhythms - and above it all the searing, otherworldly melodic scream of @chriscornellofficial .
I only got to see Soundgarden once, but I caught Chris in his element with @audioslaveofficial - the only band other than Pearl Jam who could keep up with him - and on his solo shows, including an acoustic show in Glasgow where I was front row for the entire gig and felt he was playing just for me. I shook his hand after the show and didn’t wash it for weeks afterwards.
When I heard he’d moved on in 2017 it was like a death in the family. I was just coming through a period of struggling with my own mental health then, and it hit even harder as a result.
I couldn’t process it then, and still really can’t. But I’ll be forever grateful for living in a world where this man made music for over three decades.
“No-one sings like you anymore” is an understatement π’
